Business Support
If you operate a Rhode Island food business, we’re here to help! We are working to provide farmers, growers, fishers, and aquaculture farmers and others in the food system with access to the information and resources you need to grow and thrive.
We do our best to check the resources here for accuracy and timeliness, but some inaccurate information may slip by us. Make sure to confirm what you find directly from the resource providers.
If you find anything that is inaccurate, or if part or all of this website is not accessible to you for any reason, please contact us at info@rifoodcouncil.org.

Garman Farm Middletown, RI
Wednesday, July 15 • 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Join us for a hands-on evening learning to operate and fix walk behind tractors—fun and practical!
Walk Behind Tractors are more affordable than full size tractors and have many of the same capabilities. They also have certain advantages when it comes to navigating tight spaces and diversified crops. During this Twilight, we will learn how Garman Farm grows five acres of certified organic vegetables and cut flowers using their Grillo walk-behind full-size tractor. They will touch on basic maintenance and operation, as well as how they’ve set up their farm systems to grow maximum produce with minimum labor. Aquidneck Community Table, who maintains a community farm and garden on the same property, will demo the capabilities and implements of their BCS tractor so that attendees can see the differences between the two major brands on the market.

So You Want to Start a Farm?
Interested in Starting a Farm?
Want to Expand the One You Have?
We often get calls at the Farm Bureau office from people looking for land to farm, or interested in turning their property into a farm. Sometimes they are interested in a new farm venture. This led me to create a quick handout to email those callers, and I named it, “So You Want to Start a Farm?”
