RI FOOD SYSTEM FACTBOOK
The RI Food System Factbook is an annual publication created by the Rhode Island Food Policy Council. Its purpose is to raise awareness about food system issues across Rhode Island and, educate key decision-makers on ways to improve food policy and regulatory environment, and increase public and private investment in our farmers, fishers, and food businesses.
This data-driven report provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of Rhode Island’s food system based on the best available research and data. The report includes information for the state of Rhode Island and each city and town. It tracks the progress of 40 indicators across five different areas of food system health and well-being, including Food Economy, Food Access & Security, Agriculture & Land Use, Commercial Fisheries & Aquaculture, and Climate Change.

Counting on RI’s Food System webinar 2024
On January 23, 2024 we hosted a webinar to introduce the Factbook. Members of the ASPIRES team from the University of Vermont joined us to hear from attendees about what community-based research is needed to advance a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable food system as part of a larger Northeast region “listening tour.”
