This fall, as RIFPC begins work on new policy priorities for the 2026-2027 legislative cycle, makes a fine time to join the Council. If you are motivated to make a difference, interested in connecting and learning with others, and want to collaborate on achieving shared goals, we want to work with you! No prior advocacy or policy experience is required.
Volunteers who participate in Work Groups make up the Council. They meet regularly and collaborate closely, building and implementing advocacy strategies to meet the challenges and demands of each of our annual policy priorities. The core roles for Council members include participating in monthly meetings, signing up for tasks to move the work forward between meetings, and advocating to legislators in support of your Work Group’s priorities. Your work could also include developing testimony letters, taking notes and sending out meeting summaries, welcoming and supporting new members, and hosting/coordinating off-cycle Work Group meetings.
We also welcome volunteers who want to serve as on-call advocates. These are people who stay ready to share their perspective and raise their voices to be heard by legislators and their communities about policy changes that align with RIFPC’s mission.
