This fall Rhode Islanders will elect their next governor. The Democratic and Republican primaries take place on September 9, with the general election to follow on November 3.
At the RI Food Policy Council, want everyone to understand how each candidate would govern and support Rhode Island’s local food system. We sent a network-sourced questionnaire to all registered gubernatorial candidates in early July, regardless of political party affiliation, with the same instructions, submission timeline, and opportunity to respond. Two candidates answered. Today we are sharing their answers with you.
Read this to better understand where the two responding candidates stand on issues affecting our food system. Together we can inform and influence policies, investments, and partnerships Rhode Island needs in order to create a food system that is healthy, economically vibrant, environmentally sustainable, and accessible to all.
