Join a Work Group

Participation in all RIFPC work groups is open to anyone with expertise or experience who wants to collaborate on advancing the Council’s priorities. The groups set policy priorities, provide testimony, and learn from each other.

2023 Work Groups:

A great first place to get involved with the Council is to join a Work Group that fits your interests and experience. This is one of many opportunities to volunteer, and there are differing levels of commitment. Join an upcoming meeting to learn about what we are currently working on and better understand how you can how you can contribute.

There are no dedicated “seats” for any particular organizations or sectors. Council members contribute independently, offering expertise and sharing experience. (Learn how to join the Council here)

Each Work Group sits within one of these four core issues:

Food Access & Nutrition Security

Focused on hunger, emergency food access, school nutrition, access for older adults/homebound.

Food Business & Economic Development

Focused on supporting small producers and food entrepreneurs, labor market, and increasing markets for local food.

Food Education & Workforce

Focused on ensuring excess food is eaten and food waste is composted.

Food Systems & Climate

Focused on climate change, wasted food, and ecosystem services.
